Ten Minutes That Could Save Your Life!

Doctors with the Emory Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, will be on hand from 8am until noon at Emory University Hospital Midtown to give free head and neck cancer screenings to anyone who walks in the door.

The screenings will take place on the 9th floor (suite 9-4400) of the Medical Office Tower at Emory University Hospital Midtown, and are first come, first served.

Many doctors on the head and neck cancer team will be available to perform the exams. Nurse practitioners, speech pathologists, and a volunteer crew that includes cancer survivors will answer questions and provide educational support.

Head and neck cancers include cancers of the oral cavity, thyroid, lips, mouth, salivary glands, throat or larynx. Tobacco and alcohol are the biggest risk factors for these types of cancers but there has been an increase in HPV-related cancers in non-smokers and younger age groups.
