Innovating with Existing Drugs and Nutraceuticals Conference

Symposium

11/14/2019 9:00 AM - 11/15/2019 12:30 PM Add to Calendar

Hosted by Emory's Center for Affordable Medical Innovation, this conference brings together researchers, clinicians, philanthropic leaders, and policymakers, who are interested in the opportunities to improve medical outcomes, to discuss drug repurposing.

Many existing drugs have uses outside of their original indication, a phenomenon known as drug repurposing. The conference is intended for researchers, clinicians, philanthropic leaders, policymakers, and population health leaders interested in the opportunities to improve medical and population health outcomes through use of repurposed drugs and nutraceuticals, especially in the areas of cancer and brain health.

The conference will-

  • Describe the need and opportunities associated with promoting research around these products
  • Highlight the role different sectors can play in increasing the focus on potential uses of these products
  • Share recent developments in innovation in drug repurposing, including computational, pre-clinical, and clinical research
  • Discuss opportunities to develop and sustain efforts in this area using novel financial and regulatory models
